The story of Bonnie & Clyde is fascinating and tragic, becoming a legend in American popular culture. These two outlaws met in Texas in 1930 and from then on their destiny was intertwined:
-
Bonnie Elizabeth Parker was born in 1910 and lost her father when she was just four years old. He developed a great love for literature and poetry. At school, she met Roy Thornton , whom she married. However, their marriage was marked by suffering and abuse. When Roy was arrested for murder, Bonnie took the opportunity to escape, file for divorce, and start a new life as a waitress .
-
Clyde Chestnut Barrow , on the other hand, also had a difficult life. The debts were suffocating his family, and at the age of 17 he began to commit crimes. At first, it was petty theft to get some food. The influence of their older brother, Marvin Ivan (nicknamed “Buck”), led them to steal everything from cars to barnyard animals. At 21 years old , Clyde had already been to prison twice .
The story goes that in January 1930 , Bonnie and Clyde met at the house of mutual friends, and their crush was immediate. After spending 20 harsh months in prison between 1930 and 1932 , Clyde teamed up with Parker, and the lovers began a crime spree that lasted 21 months . His legend was forged through robberies, assaults and escapes, but also by his passionate love and his tragic end. On the morning of May 23, 1934 , they were ambushed on a Louisiana highway and riddled with bullets by law enforcement officers to prevent their escape .
Thus, Bonnie and Clyde became one of the most famous and controversial couples in American criminal history. His story continues to captivate generations and leave an indelible mark on popular culture.
